Art Forward

My friend Isabelle started a “pay it forward” type of art event that I participated in.  Now I am [blissfully] obligated to do the same.

Art Forward is an opportunity to get some real live art from a blog.  In order to qualify, a participant has to hold an Art Forward at their own blog.
For my Art Forward winners, I will draw a custom art card (anything you want!) for the first three commenters.    A fourth art card will be given to a randomly picked commenter from among the comments after 3.

To claim a Rubin Pingk art card, simply be one of the first 3 commenters on this post (or a randomly drawn commenter among those after 3).  Then, host an art forward of your own.

These aren’t no quick and easy art cards either. I will draw anything by the winner’s request.  They will be sketched, inked, marker-ed, primsa-colored and pro-whited.  A full illo (in art card form!).
Art cards measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches.  I will even draw on the envelope used to send the art card! Signed, sealed and delivered by one Rubin Pingk.

Winners will have to send me their address at

  1. This sounds like fun! I am in!
Yeeey REAL Rubin Pingk card1 🙂

    • Rubin Pingk

Winner! Let me know your address by sending me an email at: and let me know what you’d like me to draw you.

  2. I’m IN, I’m in , I’m in!!!!!! cool this is like trading cards!! :D!!!

    • Rubin Pingk

Winner! What would you like me to draw you? What is your address? (email me at:

      • *does happy dance* YAY!!! I will email you the request in a bit, after I’m done with a few errands, promissse 😀

  3. Uh uhm, it sounds like a lot of work.

    • Rubin Pingk

It’s too bad you’re not Ces. I seem to remember Ces wanting me to draw Totoro. And I know Ces sends people art all the time. It seems it wouldn’t be much trouble for her to just let people pick one of her drawings to have.

      Darn shame.

    • Rubin Pingk

So, Not Ces. What would you like me to draw you?

  4. Ces

Whew! Thank goodness someone commented before me. Lucky recipients. They will have their own fantastic Rubin Pingk card. Will the envelope be pink? 🙂

    • Rubin Pingk

      Of course!

  5. Ces

By the way, well manicured nails!

    • Rubin Pingk

Can’t play guitar with fingernails. They are looking a bit long to me.

  6. Thanx Rubin. Tough decision! Will email you soon.
I got so hooked on ACEO’s because of your post, I was looking it up last night and found this amazing guy! (speed drawing of ACEO).
I have images of my own cards in my head already! Where do I get ACEO’s plastic sleeves?

@ces/ not pink or pingk envelope?

    • Ack! I am always the last to know, even when after Malka told me. That’s what I for going out and eating at Paco Taco’s last night 🙁

      Great idea & nice phylangaes!

      • Rubin Pingk

Well, Jen’s Pen, you’re the only person beyond 3 who has commented. I have a feeling if I randomly selected, it would be you.

Want one? I’ve decided I don’t care if people participate in the “Art Forward” stuff. I shouldn’t force it on people.

  7. I already know what I want you to make for me Rubin.
I ordered the sleeves for my art cards yesterday and new micro-pens to draw with. Can’t wait for them to arrive.
I made my first ACEO last night. Yeey. And posted it.
-actually it is a belated Illo Friday submission as well..

Generous Rubin… 🙂 I don’t think people feel forced, but excited, and I have also decided I won’t wait for someone to post Art Forward before I make a drawing for them..
Further more I have decided to announce card trading on my blog. All of us who keep in touch should share some artwork.
So Rubin, I will happily make something in return for you! 🙂

  8. What! The one week I basically go underground—barely checked email and you do this. I’m with Jen, so not fair! But I’m ok with just the smile, inspiration and awe I get every time I visit the oh, so talented Mr. Pingk!

On a happy appreciation note, I did a “Pay it Forward” thing on my blog and literally yesterday I got home to this great pencil case made from fabric with dogs all over it. Andi, the woman who made it, nailed my MO and she made my day. Now I’m going to surprise the three who commented on my blog…along a thank you to Andi with a lil’ somethan’ she’s expecting… I on the same page as Malka. It’s all so fun.

Happy Friday all and thanks for the fun — I’ve missed the banter this past week. But I’m off to sketch something for IF with the theme “toy”…

  9. Should proof my comments before I post…Andi’s NOT expecting anything, so she’ll should be surprised…

  10. Aww, that’s so COOL!

I like my nails ultra short too. And I don’t even play guitar. Maybe I should start.

  11. Hi Rubin..
I have officially posted my Art Forward invite! 🙂
